Christian Bale in Terminator 4: Salvation

Aintitcool.com reports that the master character actor Christian Bale is signed on as John Connor in the next Terminator movie.

Now I don't know how legitimate this is, but Aintitcool.com does have a pretty solid record when it comes to delivering at the internet/movie game. I still recall when Bruce Willis himself personally posted on their message boards in an attempt to deflect criticism from the leagues of Aintitcool.com fans about Die Hard 4.0's PG13 rating.

Either way, the addition of Christian Bale certainly makes this movie sound like it could be pretty gosh darn terrific. Last I heard, rumour had it that the ex-wrestling superstar The Rock was set to play the role of the Terminator, since Arnie won't be returning for his most famous role as the unstoppable* cyborg.

If that's the case then the stage looks to be set terrific showdown between the two of them.

Bale already reinvigorated the then-flagging Batman series (I'm looking at you 1997's Batman & Robin!) with the excellent Batman Begins, and proved can definitely handle himself in an action role. The Rock has cut his acting chops on a range of different productions recently and managed to prove to the world that he has a fair chunk of talent acting on screen (see Be Cool if you still aren't a believer).

Exciting times!

*unstoppable unless you crush him in a compactor, drop him in molten metal or explode him somehow with an opposing, newer version of a Terminator while crushing him under a blast proof door.
