CHUD.com reports that while John Connor aka Christian Bale is in the film, this movie may not revolve around John Connor anywhere near as much as the previous installments.
So if Bale is only in a token minor role, what is Terminator 4 about? Well - if reports are to be believes - it is set in 2015, and the main story instead revolves around an as-yet-uncast character called "Marcus," living in a desolate post-apocalyptic world. Joining Marcus will be a female fighter pilot for the human resistance, who goes by the name of Blair.
Some epic machine fights and square-off's with the T-600's will feature heavily in the film, the T-600 being the more primitive rubber-skinned Terminator model that existed before the well-known T-800 version made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
There are also rumors flying around that the T-600 model will be cyborgs - robotic endoskeletons complete with traitor human brains.
I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty incredible to me. Either way, here's a quick rundown on the Terminator models from previous films to help add contrast to this new T-600 model soon to be introduced:
----------
T-800 / T-850 (All Terminator Movies)
The foot soldier of Skynet, essentially this model has come from an assembly line. The T-800 series is manufactured by Skynet. Made up of a metallic endoskeleton covered with living tissue. The T-800 is featured in Terminator and Terminator 2. The T-850 is present in Terminator 3, which is a slightly upgraded version of the original.
----------
T-1000 (Terminator 2: Judgement Day)
A huge technological leap over it's predecessor, the T-1000 is made of liquid metal and can mimic, shapeshift, absorb damage and repair itself much more effectively than the T-800. When James Cameron cast Robert Patrick for the role, he was going for a distinct contrast between the two saying, "I wanted to find someone who would be a good contrast to Arnold. If the 800 series is a kind of human Panzer tank, then the 1000 series had to be a Porsche."
The liquid metal core of the T-1000
The disguised T-1000 taking a bullet to the shoulderT-X (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines)
The most advanced Terminator seen in the films, the T-X (aka The Terminatrix) was designed to not only terminate humans, but also to act as an anti-Terminator Terminator. One designed to destroy machines that had been reprogrammed. Unlike the earlier models, which had to make do with physical combat or weapons found in their surroundings, the T-X has more built-in weapons and functions than a Swiss Army Knife.
