Razzie Award Frontrunners

Just off the back of the announced Academy Award nominees come the contenders for the 2008 Golden Raspberry Awards aka 'The Razzies'. Lindsay Lohan and Eddie Murphy can't be happy with the results...

Norbit, which shows Murphy in multiple roles, is about a man who finds the girl of his dreams, yet is held back by his engagement to a controlling, morbidly obese fiancee. The role has netted him an unprecedented five nominations - his various parts in the movie enabling him to be nominated for not only Worst Actor, but also Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Supporting Actress, Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Couple.

"We decided that each of his characters was so offensive that he deserved individual nominations", said Razzies founder John Wilson.

The other major star to be unfortunate enough to snag a large number of nominations was Lindsay Lohan, who has been absolutely eviscerated for her roles in the teen horror thriller I Know Who Killed Me.

Adam Sandler's I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry also saw itself up for a range of awards - which was really to be expected considering the material.

The Razzie's are announced the day before the Oscars. It's a big change for Eddie Murphy this year... in 2007 he was a hot favourite to take home an Academy Award around this time for his work in Dreamgirls. Still, if you willingly write and star in movies like Norbit then I guess you have to be held responsible.
