Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the new comedy from the prolific Judd Apatow - who one can only assume sold his soul at midnight near some crossroads in exchange for instant and indulgent success in Hollywood.
Basically the film's premise is about a dumped and devastated Peter (Jason Segel) who has split from his TV-star girlfriend Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). To take his mind off the messy breakup he travels to Hawaii. Little does he know that Sarah Marshall is also holidaying in the same resort, and she has brought along her new boyfriend.
The film is getting lots of early praise from test screenings, and looks to be another big hit. The viral advertising campaign shows anti-Sarah Marshall graffiti scrawled on bus-stops, taxis, buses and just about everywhere that it can fit... the reason of it comes from Peter's blog www.ihatesarahmarshall.com which explains how he sold off the engagement ring after the split to fund the anti-Sarah campaign.

Perhaps the best part of this campaign is that real-life Sarah Marshall's are being affected by the massive campaign. Zap2It.com reported on a couple of them:
“They’re everywhere, and they’re so annoying,” says Sarah Marshall the Glendora student, who lives three blocks from one of the billboards. Adults called her parents to ask if she was the target of a hate campaign. “I wish they specified that it’s a movie.” - Sarah Marshall, high school senior, Glendora, California
“I got a lot of e-mails and phone calls asking if my boyfriend and I were OK.” - Sarah Marshall, advertising student, Fort Worth, Texas
There has been a bit of a strange trend though, with new photos coming in of people's homemade Sarah Marshall adverts popping up around the place... Whether it is a backlash or not isn't entirely clear, but personally I think that these new homemade ads look pretty cool.
