The English-language trailer for Park Chan-wook's South Korean flick Thirst has finally debuted online, and it promises to be a bloodier affair than perhaps any other vampire film we've ever seen.
The film follows a priest who transforms into a vampire following an experimental vaccination. He begins an illicit affair with the wife of a childhood friend. When she wishes to become a vampire as well, she plots to kill her husband. Meanwhile, the priest struggles to find blood without murdering others.
It was released in its native South Korea earlier this year to rave reviews. The pic also tied with Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank at the Cannes film festival last month, taking home the Jury Prize (equal third place).

Park is one of my all-time favourite directors, and I'm currently undertaking an Honours thesis based around his Vengeance Trilogy (which includes Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance). Having watched each of Park's films dozens of times, I can't explain to you what a relief it is to have another picture to sink my teeth into.
Thirst hits U.S. cinemas July 31st, with an Australian release to follow later in the year. In the meantime, check out the best vampire flick of 2008, Let the Right One In. Oh, and as always, continue to avoid Twilight.

best vampire movie? the genre obviously has a plethora of choice, but off the top of my head 28 days of night hit the spot for me, and ill also add, i dare say, for 'concept evolution' twilight unfotunately gets my vote.
