The first teaser trailer for Samuel Bayer’s remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street has debuted online. In it we see our first glimpse of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger.
The remake comes from Michael Bay‘s production company Platinum Dunes, who were also responsible for the Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboots. But before you lose all faith, we can’t underestimate how great it is to have an actor like Haley classing up the flick.

I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with the visual style on display here. It looks as if music video director Bayer (Smells Like Teen Spirit) has employed a more striking colour palette than previous Platinum Dunes productions.
I think Haley’s interpretation of Krueger will have some fans up in arms. Gone are the Robert Englund-esque wisecracks in place of a more menacing attitude. I’m on board.
A Nightmare on Elm Street is set to hit cinemas in 2010.

It looks fine, but like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" from Platinum Dunes (by far the best of the "remakes" from this decade) it looks more like a sequel than a remake.
