Muppets return to cinemas!

source: slashfilm.com

Disney have announced they are actively developing a new Muppets film entitled The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made. It will be based on a screenplay written by Jason Segel.

While there is no release date set, the announcement is great news. Segel, the star and writer of the hit film Forgetting Sarah Marshall, pitched the concept of a new Muppet movie last year. He had formed a good relationship with The Jim Henson Company after using their wares for his own film's memorable puppet sequence.

At the time, it was expected his Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller would helm. However, the announcement from Disney Chairman Dick Cook was sparse on details.

Regardless, the idea of a new Muppet movie from the pen of Jason Segel sounds like spun gold to me!

Discuss: Favourite Muppet movie? And yes, Weezer's video clip for Keep Fishin' counts!
