What is the best film of the decade?

Can you believe the decade is almost over? It seems like only yesterday we were all singing along to Will Smith's hit record Will2K, preparing our computers for global meltdown and looking forward to long, thriving film careers for recent Oscar winners Helen Hunt and Cuba Gooding Jr. We were so young.

With mere weeks before we enter the teenage years of the 21st century, we thought there is no better time than now to look back upon the decade that was and decide which motion pictures were the best of The Noughties.

(Side note: Did we ever actually decide on a title for this decade? Was 'noughties' the official title? It's probably too late now, but someone really should have made the call on a name back in 2001).

Let us know in the comments section below your favourite films of the decade! Give us your number 1 film! Your top 10! Your top 100! It was a fine decade for cinema, so let us know which movies you will look back on fondly!

If you are looking for inspiration, check out the recent Academy Award Winners or the Highest Grossing Films of the Decade.

Finally, to kick off the proceedings, Quickflix critic Simon Miraudo (that's me!) compiled his 15 favourite films from 2000-2009. And they are:

Alright, enough from me! Let us know in the comments section below what your favourite movies are! We shall debate and we shall argue, but mostly, we shall celebrate a damn fine decade!

Discuss: What, I gotta say it again? What are your favourite films of the decade?

Love the list, even though mine is almost completely different. I still gotta check out Ratatouille and Synecdoche

For my money, I'd rank 'em

1. Memento (2000)
2. The Dark Knight (2008) (I'm a fanboy - sue me)
3. City of God (2002)
4. Lucky Number Slevin (2006) (I always get crap about this)
5. Up (2009)
6. American Psycho (2000)
7. Gone Baby Gone (2007)
8. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)
9-11. The Lord of the Rings (I can't separate them)
12. Requiem for a Dream (2000)
13. Grindhouse (2007) (yes, both halves)
14. Oldboy (2004)
15. The Mist (2007)

For some reason I'm limiting myself to Ten films, and I wouldn't say these are necessarily the best films, but they are definitely my favourites for the decade:

1. Kill Bill
2. Up
3. High Fidelity
4. Monsters Inc
5. Step Brothers
6. Grindhouse
7. Amelie
8. Shaun of the Dead
9. All the real girls
10. Secretary

Lots of Tarantino and Pixar in there, an odd combination yes, but damn it I am a kid at heart and love a bit of snappy dialouge and violence at the same time!

What about Slumdog Millionaire? A lot more than meets the eye, an excellent movie. Its about time we saw what goes on in the rest of the world instead of just our spoilt western minority.

Just as one can be in two places in once, it’s also near impossible to see all the “really good” films that are out there. Hence, I’ve only seen five of the 15 favourite films listed by the unknown Quickflix critic. Mine are decidedly arthouse and often foreign.

1. The Lives of Others
2. The Wrestler
3. Slumdog Millionaire
4. Summer Hours
5. The Class
6. Disgrace
7. The Savages
8. Milk
9. Capote
10. Samson & Delilah
11. La Vie en Rose
12. As Good As It Gets
13. Beautiful Kate
14. Jindabyne
15. Sideways
