Jared Harris is reportedly set to star as Sherlock Holmes‘ nemesis Moriarty in the second instalment of Guy Ritchie‘s crime saga.
The report comes from Latino Review, who note that pervasive rumours of the role belonging to either Daniel Day-Lewis or Brad Pitt were indeed false
Harris is best known as Lane Pryce from television’s Mad Men. He has also starred in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and will appear in Tomas Alfredson’s upcoming Cold War drama Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
It was recently announced that Stephen Fry would join the project as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft, while The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace will play the female lead.
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will return as Holmes and Watson. Sherlock Holmes 2 begins shooting later this year, and is set to debut December 2011.
Discuss: Pryce is a phenomenal actor; one who is able to find the right balance between charming and creepy (see his work in Happiness for example). Do you think he’s the right fit for the role of the criminal mastermind?
