Elizabeth Banks has officially signed on to play District 12 escort Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games. Banks tweeted “I can now confirm I’m EFFIE TRINKET in @TheHungerGames. So excited!” after she posted a quote from Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel and asked her followers to guess its source.
District 4’s tributes have also been cast and posted on the official Hunger Games Facebook page. Ethan Jamieson and Tara Macken will play Tribute Boy and Tribute Girl respectively, their characters coming from the fishing industry district and have experience using hooks, tridents and nets. District 4 is also one of the wealthier districts, meaning their children are raised as Career tributes, trained to win the Games.
Banks, Jamieson and Macken join Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the Gary Ross directed film.
I feel like I have a special connection with this upcoming movie and I hope it’s for a good reason. I love the book and I can’t wait to start the second!! Such a compelling and wonderful story!!
