Cursed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies loses another director

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies can’t land a leading lady, and is now searching for a new director after Craig Gillespie bows out after six months with the project.

Deadline confirmed the news concerning the plagued production, which has recently seen Blake Lively join the growing list of actresses turning down the role of Elizabeth Bennett: Zombie Hunter.

Gillespie is the third director to depart the film, following David O. Russell and Mike White, who had previously attempted to get the Seth Grahame-Smith adaptation off the ground.

The departure is said to be amicable and based primarily on the troubled casting which has seen pre-production stretch out since 2009.

With Gillespie out, who will be the next director to bring this story to life? Rumours that Grahame-Smith might co-direct with producing partner David Katzenberg are likely not to amount to anything – but who knows how desperate Lionsgate will get?!

Discuss: Can you think of any appropriate directors to bring this property to life?
