First look at The Great Gatsby

The first official images from Baz Luhrmann‘s adaptation of The Great Gatsby have made their way online, showing off Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton as Jay, Nick, Daisy and Tom respectively.

Luhrmann’s approach to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel has generated its fair share of ire during production, notably for being shot in Sydney rather than New York, and for Baz’s decision to film it in 3-D.

Still, it’s hard to deny the sumptuous look of these first snaps.

The Great Gatsby is set to hit cinemas Christmas 2012.
