Emily Blunt joins Tom Cruise for Kill

Emily Blunt will star opposite Tom Cruise in Doug Liman‘s anime adaptation All You Need Is Kill, Variety reports.

The rights to Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s comic – about “a young Army recruit who, despite being killed in the first day of intergalactic alien invasion of Earth, is continually resurrected Groundhog Day–style” - were picked up for seven-figures in 2010.

Blunt will likely play The Bitch of War, a mysterious woman who appears on the soldier’s 158th rebirth.

As previously reported, the pic was first scripted by Dante Harper before being rewritten by Joby Harold (there were third act issues that kept the film from receiving the green light from Warner Bros).
