The trailer for Stephen Frears‘ adaptation of Beth Raymer’s memoir Lay the Favourite has debuted online.
Looking like a less flashy mutation of Ocean’s Eleven and The Cooler, the film tells of a professional sports better (Bruce Willis) who employs a good luck charm (Rebecca Hall) to ensure his gambles a sure thing.
There’s a slight telemovie feel to the trailer, and reviews out of Sundance weren’t exactly rapturous, but we’ll reserve final judgment until the film hits our shores (obviously). Hold all bets for now.
Lay the Favourite also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joshua Jackson, and Vince Vaughn. It does not yet have an Australian release date.
