The first trailer for Disney’s next animated feature, Wreck-It Ralph, has debuted online.
In the film, John C. Reilly voices the beefed-up villain of an 8-bit arcade game who decides he’s had enough of being the bad guy to Fix-It-Felix’s (Jack McBrayer) hero. He embarks on a journey across the arcade, game-hopping in the hope he’ll find one that will allow him to save the day.
On his way he meets several new characters, from Hero’s Duty’s Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) to the sweet and feisty Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman). Unfortunately for Ralph, he accidentally unleashes an enemy that threatens the arcade, and time will only tell if he can step up and become the hero he’s dreamed of being.
The trailer is surprisingly funny, with the video game bad-guy’s anonymous group being a definite highlight. This is certainly a film that could appeal to both kids today and their parents who grew up with arcade games.
Wreck-It Ralph, directed by Rich Moore, hits Australian cinemas December 26, 2012.
